The first people disobey God
Genesis 3.1-15,20-23
Now the snake was the most cunning animal that the LORD God had made. The snake asked the woman, “Did God really tell you not to eat the fruit of any tree in the garden?”
The woman answered, “ we may eat the fruit of any tree in the garden, but not from the tree in th middle of it. God told us not eat its fruit or even touch it. If we do, we willdie.”
The snake replied, “that’s not true. You will not die. God said because he knows that when eat it, you will be like God. You will know good and evil.”
The woman thought, “what a beautiful tree! It would be good to eat its fruit. How wonderful it world be to become wise.” So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband. He also ate it. At once they knew they could undeerstand good and evil. They knew they were naked. So they sewed fig leves together and covered themselves.
That evening they heard the LORD God walking in the garden. They hid from him among the trees. But the LORD God called out to the man, “ Adam, where are you?”
He answered, “I heaed the LORD God walking in the garden , I was afraid and hid from you , because I was naked.”
“who told you that you were naked?” God asked. “ Did you eat the fruit that I told you not to eat?”
The man answered, “The woman you put here with me gave me the fruit,and I ate it.”
The LORD God asked the woman, “Why did you do this?”
She replied, “The snake made me believe. So I ate it.”
then the LORD God said to the snake, “you will be punished for this. Of all the animals, you alone will be cursed. From now on you will crawl on you belly.you will have to eat dust as you and the woman hate each other. Her children and your offspring will also be enemies. Her child will crush your head. You will bite his heel.”
Adam named his wife Eve,because she was the mother of all human beings. The LORD God made cloths out of animal skins for adam and Eve. And he clothed them.
Then the LORD God said, “now the man has become like one of us , for he knows good and evil. We must not let him eat the fruit of the tree that givens life , if he done, he will live forever. “ so the LORdGod sent him out of the garden of Eden. From then on he had to work hard and geow his own food in the ground from which God had made him.
